Opinions about the Ratchet and Clank Movie so Far

During this day and age, most of us have a favourite video game that we hope will get a movie or show adaption but still have concerns whether or not it'll succeed. However, a lot of game series this day and age such as Sly Cooper, Mario, Sonic, Professor Layton, etc. are finally have or getting a movie adaption. However, those are the movies that I won't be talking about as the fan of Ratchet and Clank has returned to talk about the movie that is coming out at some point this year. 

I remember watching the first trailer a couple of years ago and was pretty excited along with many other fans. Unfortunately, you didn't hear much about the film as many other events happen and news about the film production was pretty quiet. A second trailer came out several months ago and surprisingly I didn't even notice it until yesterday. I thought it was a great short trailer for this film, however, I realized that some fans are not taking it to well ... keyword ... change.

After watching the second trailer and hearing more news about the movie, we find out that the film is actually based on the ... first game. A few fans didn't approve of this as they were expecting a new journey instead of a redo of the first game which everyone knows about. So you're probably asking, what's my personal opinion? Do I agree with the whole redo? To be fair ... I don't mind at all, to be honest it's probably a good idea. Now before everyone goes why do I agree with the redo, might as well explain my reasons why I thought it was a good idea. 


1. Graphics

You have to admit that the graphics back when the first Ratchet and Clank film came out was pretty good back in the day, but over the years, technology has improved and graphics became better then they were back in the day, the graphics back in the day would be considered basic now so I find the creators of the Ratchet and Clank series are now able to do more and add more details unlike before. Even adding more details to characters, for example Derek was a weird sky-blued eye, basic designed character. Now they add more details and gave pupils to Derek, I thought his new character design was still awesome. But yeah, right now, the graphics looks outstanding and so far meets the current standards of Insomniac Games, like seriously, would you want to watch the graphics of the first Ratchet and Clank game in the movie? Probably not, so right now I can say, graphics look pretty great so far.

2. Younger Audience

Not everyone knows about Ratchet and Clank and as it is a game for people 10 and over (correct me if I'm wrong), it wouldn't be a surprise that the younger audience wouldn't know who Ratchet and Clank is. I do believe the creators of the movie wanted to create the film to target the younger audience. 

Reason why I'm mentioning this is because fans were complaining about Ratchet's "young appearance" or the fact his appearance hasn't changed, in fact, his design is exactly like Tools of Destruction. It's like Ratchet had no younger appearance and that he was the same this whole time without growing. I can see were people can complain about it as it is almost like the Ash Ketchum theory, however, I do believe this movie is supposed to target the younger audience and kids these days look up to characters around their age which is why Ratchet is shown to be young or exactly like his design in Tools of Destruction, again nothing really wrong with the idea. 

 
3. Ratchet

Yes everyone, I am bringing up Ratchet. Fun Fact: Did you know out of the characters who appeared in the first game, Ratchet was the least favourite?

Apparently when people first played the Ratchet and Clank game, they had a lot of problems with Ratchet, why? Because of Ratchet's rude personality during the game. I actually watched cutscenes of the first game and holy crap, I would have hated his character if I played the game. He was rude, disrespectful even towards Clank, greedy and wanting to get everything he didn't have which was probably the reason why Ratchet had a rough start getting fans. However, Insomniac Games listened to their fans and changed his personality to a more suitable and very liked character. With the redo of the first game and made into a movie, it'll show the Ratchet that we currently know who is kind hearted instead of the Ratchet that was shown in the first game. 

That is as much as I can say since the movie hasn't come out yet as of this time. I hope the movie is successful and hopefully comes out in theatres soon.
